Presented here is an absolutely pristine mild custom 1955 Ford Customline 4-door sedan, finished in the beautiful period-correct combination of Surf Green over Seafoam Green. The car has undergone a complete body-off, rotisserie bare-metal restoration in which every component was rebuilt, replated or renewed. Only 765 miles have been travelled since the restoration was completed, and the car retains the crisp, fresh appearance of a brand-new Customline. The overall quality of workmanship, finish and mechanical detailing places it among the finest stock-style Customlines we have ever had the pleasure of taking to auction.
DRIVE - LINE:
Power is supplied by a fully rebuilt 272 Y-block V8 mated to a rebuilt Fordomatic automatic, delivering the smooth, torquey performance these cars are renowned for. The engine features new triple 97 Stromberg carburettors and bright dress components, complemented by an electronic ICE ignition system for reliable modern operation. Built using a completely restored and dead straight 1957 chassis, the complete braking system, suspension and steering assemblies were all renewed during the rebuild, including new bushes, brake lines, springs, and a new master cylinder and booster. A twin exhaust system with XVA headers completes the driveline, giving the car a clean idle and a nice V8 note. The full and complete mechanical overhaul is sitting on correctly painted wheels with new hubcaps and period correct Coker Classic Whitewall tyres.
EXTERIOR:
Presented in immaculate condition, the body was stripped to bare metal, placed on a rotisserie and professionally rebuilt with all rust removed and new metal inserted where required, including fresh sills, floors, pans, firewall sections, lower guards and lower quarter panels. It was then finished in high-quality 2-pack paint in Surf Green over Seafoam Green, with the engine bay resprayed in matching 2-pack black. The cars styling was overseen by the builder / owner with badging and trim pieces chosen for his own aesthetic pleasing. All chrome has been replated, stainless mouldings repaired and polished, and every rubber seal throughout the car has been replaced. The glass, including the windscreen, is new green-tinted glass. New exterior door handles, mirrors, bonnet and boot ornaments, hubcaps and dress rims have been fitted. The body was also fish-oiled internally to ensure long-term structural preservation.
INTERIOR:
The interior has been completely renewed, presenting in as-new condition with fresh upholstery, trim and fittings throughout. A brand-new wiring loom has been installed, and all electrical items and accessories are new or refurbished. The car is fitted with new seat belts, a new stereo system with speakers, and all window and bailey channels have been replaced. The cabin presents with a clean, crisp finish that complements the high-level workmanship seen throughout the rest of the car.
